Jack Harrison has had an up and down season for Leeds – the trouble is, it’s been more down than up, and this was in evidence in Leeds’ 2-0 defeat against Brentford on Monday.

He’s only scored four goals this season and came nowhere near adding to that in the Brentford game. Stats from WhoScored proved that he had almost zero impact in the match, registering no shots, no tackles and just one dribble. He was also dispossessed twice.

Mateusz Klich had four shots and Stuart Dallas, who came on as a sub, had three.

Harrison’s stats are almost unforgivable at this stage in the season, when Leeds are (or perhaps were) on the brink of a return to the Premier League.

The trouble is, there’s not really anyone who can come in for the Man City loanee – Jack Clarke has looked bereft of confidence since returning from illness.

It means that Harrison will probably get the nod to line-up on the wing against Aston Villa on Sunday in a match that Leeds simply have to win.

The slimmest hopes of automatic promotion might already have dissolved come Sunday but Leeds need to beat Aston Villa, who they could meet in the play-offs, just to arrest their slump.

It won’t be easy – Villa have won ten-in-a-row and are the form team in the Championship at the moment.

Harrison needs to step up and prove that he’s got the fight that Leeds need at the moment. His performance against Brentford was shocking.
