Having played less than 10 minutes in the Champions League clash with Manchester City in midweek, Ben Davies was given the chance to stake his claim for a regular place in the starting XI on Saturday. Unfortunately for the 25-year-old, he did very little to impress the Spurs faithful, who were left savaging what they saw from the Welsh international on Twitter. Pep Guardiola’s men had the better of him time and again down his left flank, the cross which led to City’s opening goal barely challenged by Davies or his teammates. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Sergio Aguero caused him so many problems and you just have to wonder whether Danny Rose, with his pace and guile, would have suffered so much had he been the one chosen to start. If nothing else, this just proved to Mauricio Pochettino that Davies should be his second choice left back for the rest of the season and maybe he should be solely considered to fill in as a centre back option from now on. The Spurs fans were not happy and you can imagine his manager was not either.

This is Futbol has rounded up a selection of the Spurs faithful slamming the Welsh defender:
