Wolves have had scouts jet out to watch Benfica prodigy Joao Felix, according to Sport Sport.

The Bosnian news outlet claims that Wanderers had a member of staff watching the youngster in Benfica’s Europa League clash against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night.

It is understood that the Midlands club was joined by representatives from Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Barcelona.

The 19-year-old has a massive £105 million release clause in his contract, as reported by The Mirror, and has been in impressive form this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting six more in all competitions.

OPINION

Felix is the real deal. For starters, just look at the list of teams keeping tabs on him. It’s a who’s who of European football, a deluge of the elite clubs from the continent, and generally speaking there’s no smoke without fire. He is an absolute terror for defences, and it’s refreshing to see that he has a real eye for gaol as well as a silky skill or a mazy run. At 19, he will only get better, and it’s mouthwatering to think about where he could end up. Wolves’ interest is, therefore, very interesting. On the one hand, they surely don’t have chance of attracting a player like Felix when the competition for his signature is so illustrious. On the other, it is pleasing that they are rubbing shoulders with the big boys now, and surely acts as a clear indication of their ambitions. The chances of them landing the Portuguese wonder kid are slim, but with Jorge Mendes lurking in the shadows, never say never.
