Everton midfielder Tom Davies underwent a bit of a renaissance in the middle of the season when he filled in for Idrissa Gueye, and there is no doubt that he gave Marco Silva a bit of a selection headache.

However, fast forward to now, and the 20-year-old fans favourite is nowhere to be seen, and that is mainly down to the transformation of the once-exciled Morgan Schneiderlin.

He has risen to prominence in the last few weeks after being started against Cardiff a while ago, and this is a decision that affected the likes of Davies in a major way.

The fact that Schneiderlin is transformed and re-energised means that Davies has been pushed out into the cold, and it looks to stay that way until the end of the season if the former France international maintains the impressive form that he is in.

The Frenchman has dazzled in the middle of the park recently, and there is no denying that he thoroughly deserves to be in the starting XI after the effort he has put in, but this is something that will have Davies sweating profusely.

Davies once gave Silva a midfield dilemma, but that could not be more different at the moment, and this is a shame as the young ace was really starting to get into the flow of things.

He provided more than suitable cover for Gueye during his absence, and despite his age, out played most of his opponents, so many fans are no doubt wondering where on Earth the ace is right now.

What does he have to do to force his way back into Silva’s thoughts?

It remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – he is set for a long-term absence from the starting XI at the rate things are going, and this will certainly make him question his Goodison Park future.
