Vinnie Jones has sent a message to Leeds fans as the promotion race hots up.

The former Leeds player, who was last spotted on Twitter about 18 months ago, posted an image of himself in his Leeds strip with the message, “Winning doesn’t really matter as long as you win.”

Leeds are in the automatic promotion spots again after beating West Brom on Friday, and seeing Sheffield United held 0-0 by Wednesday on Monday night.

OPINION

Leeds fans absolutely loved this, with many replying to Jones on Monday night calling him a legend. He’s a man of few words but Leeds fans are taking this as a message that he’s fully behind their push for promotion. And it was a good night for Leeds all round, with Sheffield United failing to beat their city rivals. The 0-0 on Monday night means that Leeds hold onto third place in the Championship, two points ahead of Sheffield United, but two points behind Norwich on top. Leeds’ next game is against Bristol City on Saturday and the basics go a bit like this: There are 11 games left in the Championship. If they win every one of them, they’re back in the Championship. And, as Vinnie Jones pointed out, winning doesn’t really matter as long as you win. It’s highly unlikely Leeds will win all 11 games, though, meaning there will be more twists and turns to come this season. But, at the moment, things are looking good again for Leeds after a mini blip in form.
