OPINION
You can tell it’s getting to the business end of the season. Because it’s not just Leeds matches that are putting their fans through the wringer. Sheffield United played Sheffield Wednesday tonight and a win for Chris Wilder’s side would have seen Leeds leapfrogged into third again. Sheffield United have the better goal difference, despite the 4-0 win against West Brom helping matters on Friday. The game was about as tense as it could be, with Wednesday holding out for a 0-0 draw, with some late scares for Leeds fans to contend with. Many supporters took to Twitter to try to make the time pass quicker, with one saying he was more tense than when he’s watching Leeds. Many others said they could see an injury-time goal coming, but thankfully that didn’t happen. And when the final whistle went, the Leeds fans celebrated, knowing that promotion is back in their hands. The result is a fantastic one for Leeds, leaving them two points clear of United in second, and in the automatic promotion spots with 11 games to go. There will be plenty more twists and turns to go before the top two is settled but for tonight Leeds fans can sleep peacefully knowing that, as things stand, they’re heading back to the Premier League.
Here are the best reactions from tense Leeds fans:
