Valencia are in the hunt to sign Leeds United midfielder Samuel Saiz with Getafe ready to snub the chance to sign him in the summer, according to El Gol Digital.

The Spanish news outlet claims that Getafe have the option to sign Saiz, 28, once his loan deal expires with them at the end of the season, but at the moment they have no intention of triggering that clause.

Saiz has only been an unused substitute in all of Getafe’s last three La Liga fixtures and it is understood that Valencia will now enter talks to sign the ex-Huesca ace as he wants to stay in Spain.

Good move for Leeds?

One of the reasons Saiz left Leeds to join Getafe in the summer was because he was homesick, so it is no shock to see him want to stay in Spain despite Getafe not wanting to sign him.

El Gol Digital reports that they have an option to sign the playmaker for £5.6million, but that seems unlikely to be triggered at this stage.

Valencia’s interest means that the Yorkshire giants should still be able to cash in on Saiz, but it might end up being for a lower fee.

Even though Valencia are owned by billionaire Peter Lim, they will not want to pay that much for the 28-year-old when he has hardly played since joining Getafe.

Leeds’ best option is for Getafe to sign Saiz, but unfortunately, that might not happen.

Likely to happen?

Saiz seems to have his heart set on staying in Spain once this season ends, so he is very likely to leave Elland Road on a permanent basis.

Valencia might try to sign the £16,000-a-week (Diario Del Alto Taragaon) player from Leeds, but only if they can get him on a cheap deal.
