Tottenham are plotting a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, according to Marca.

The Spanish outlet reports on their website that Spurs are considering a move for the 22-year-old – who is currently on loan at La Liga side Real Betis – if Christian Eriksen ends up leaving the club in the summer.

The report adds that the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City are also interested in signing the midfielder, and once Betis obtain Lo Celso on a permanent basis from PSG, they are willing to listen to offers of around £51.8 million (60 million euros).

Good move for Tottenham?

It remains to be seen just what Eriksen will decide to do in the summer, but moving for Lo Celso as his replacement is quite a wise move. He has been a mainstay in the Betis side this term – making 35 appearances – so it is clear that he has the experience to slot into the Tottenham side. However, as good as he may be, he would not be able to fill the void that could be left by Eriksen straight away.

Likely to happen?

This is a move that could happen – but only if Eriksen leaves in the summer. If he does not, then it would be absolutely pointless to sign Lo Celso. Should Eriksen leave though, Spurs do have a good chance of signing the Argentine, but they would have to fight off competition from City and Real Madrid before they do. Real seem pretty keen on him according to the report, as they have already enquired about him.
