Everton are interested in Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek after he shone for the club in their Champions League victory over Real Madrid, according to Bleacher Report.

The reliable news outlet reports on their website that the 21-year-old playmaker has caught the eye of the Toffees after proving to be one of the Dutch side’s best performers on a regular basis.

The report adds that a host of Serie A clubs have sent scouts to go and watch him in action, with AC Milan deemed to be the most serious about their interest.

Good move for Everton?

Yes, this would absolutely be a good move for the Toffees. De Beek is one of the most underrated players in the Ajax team, as he does not get the same headlines as his teammates do. He played a big part in helping them dump Real out of the Champions League, so there is no doubt that he would be a very welcome addition to Goodison Park. He has scored 12 goals this season as well as providing nine assists, which are very respectable figures indeed.

Likely to happen?

Everton are not the only ones that have been alerted to De Beek, so this makes a move for De Beek less likely for them. AC Milan have shown the most interest in signing him and this may prove to be the ultimate obstacle for them. If they can fight off this competition, then they will surely win the race for De Beek’s signature over their Italian rivals – so watch this space. He would be quite the coup and would definitely go down a storm at Everton.
