David Moyes claimed that Celtic and Rangers would surprise a lot of people if they could both join the English Premier League.

The currently unattached manager shared that both the Hoops and the Gers were massive clubs and that wouldn’t change if they played in England’s top-flight.

“Let me tell you if Celtic and Rangers could both join the Premier League they’d be huge huge clubs, in fact they’d surprise a lot of people in England about how big they would be as they’re massive clubs,” said Moyes on Sky Sports Premier League (Sunday March 3rd 11:48am).

David Jones then added that Souness was clearly in agreement as he was nodding along with everything Moyes said.

“Graeme is nodding in agreement,” quickly pointed out the Sky Sports host.

OPINION

It’s no surprise that Moyes and Souness believe that Celtic and Rangers could be notable teams in the Premier League. It’s also easy to agree with the fact that many would be shocked if either could compete at the higher end of the table, as lots of people do underestimate the quality of Scottish football. Far too often Celtic and Rangers are dismissed despite clearly being big clubs. While it will probably never happen, if the two Scottish giants did end up in the English Premier League, it would help end this argument about how they compare to clubs in England. As for now this will only be debated about football experts and pundit as like, as there’s no true way of knowing how Celtic or Rangers would fare in the Premier League. Also aside from that, it is very interesting that Moyes heaps praise on Celtic in particular as according to The Sun he is a contender to be their next manager.
