Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is surely sweating over the thought of not having attacker Alfredo Morelos for the clash with Celtic as that would be a major blow.

The Scottish Sun reported on Sunday that the 22-year-old is at risk of missing this month’s Old Firm derby after appearing to lash out against Kilmarnock’s Kirk Broadfoot during the Gers’ 1-1 draw with Killie on Saturday.

The newspaper claimed that the incident is likely to be reviewed by the SFA’s disciplinary panel and that Morelos could be handed a punishment as a result.

Given that Gerrard is no doubt feeling the pressure as the Gers appear to be struggling to rack up results currently, he needs Morelos for the clash with Celtic.

The Rangers manager looks destined to end this season without a trophy in his hand but if he secures another win over Celtic this month, pressure from fans over the lack of silverware will cease.

Beating the Hoops would give Rangers fans hope that next season Gerrard can lift a trophy and it would also see them have some sort of bragging rights over their archrivals which is no doubt something they would enjoy.

Morelos has scored 28 goals, while assisting 11, this season and is a key player for Rangers due to him being their main source of goals.

Whenever the forward is missing, the Gers look drastically weaker up front and given that Neil Lennon’s side continue to be in great form and no doubt are just as eager to beat Gerrard’s team this month; Gerrard needs all his best players available to secure a victory.

While the Scottish Sun claim it’s Morelos sweating over facing a potential ban, given the pressure Gerrard seems to be under at Ibrox currently, he is probably fretting more over the forward missing the Old Firm clash.
