Rangers’ hopes of winning the Scottish Premiership title are slowly fading after their 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Alfredo Morelos rescued a point for the Gers in the second half in what was an overall average performance from the team, but there was a player who stood out – and not in a good way.

That player is midfielder Lassana Couilbaly, who is currently on loan from French club Angers. The 22-year-old was dreadful on Saturday in what was a rare chance to stake a claim for a first team spot, and the fans are no doubting counting down the days until his loan spell ends. He has hardly made an impact anyway.

He has hardly been seen in the last few weeks, and this performance basically summed up why, having done nothing to impress. Coulibaly improved somewhat in the second half, but it was nowhere near a good standard. The faster he returns to France, the better.

Steven Gerrard would no doubt have taken note of what he had seen on Saturday, and you would think that the possibility of signing Coulibaly in the summer would have decreased after this match. Well, as a fan, you would hope that is the case.

Rangers have plenty of other midfielders who are capable of performing to an acceptable level, so there is no point in keeping a player who is not up to scratch, is there?

His time at Ibrox is slowly running out. There must not be a single fan who is keen on him staying any longer than he has to, right? This was the opportunity to show Gerrard what the team has been missing, and prove that he is worthy of a place in the team. Unfortunately for him, things did not pan out that way.

Either way, many fans will surely be rejoicing when he leaves, especially after this horror show.
