Celtic surely must still be kicking themselves over letting attacker Teemu Pukki slip through their clutches as he continues to shine for Norwich City.

The Hoops sold Pukki to Brondby in 2015 after he only managed to score nine goals in 38 outings for the Scottish giants.

However the 28-year-old went on to wow for the Danish club before joining Norwich in the summer in order to become one of the most lethal finishers in the English Championship.

Pukki has scored 25 goals in 37 outings this season and due to the fact he looks like he is firing the Canaries back to the Premier League, he’s getting a lot of attention.

Given that the Hoops could do with a clinical forward in their squad currently and because the club never saw the best of Pukki; they’re surely questioning their decision to let him go and whether they’re to blame for him not succeeding in Scotland.

This need to kick themselves would have only grown stronger on Wednesday as former Finland manager Mixu Paatelainen poured salt on their wounds by being confident that Pukki would have succeeded at the club with time.

“I am very sure that if he had stayed longer at Celtic, he would have scored goals for them. Sometimes you get that sticky spell. For some reason or another, things don’t always run smoothly,” Paatelainen told the Herald Scotland.

“Teemu has always been very light on his feet, always very capable of getting in behind defences.

“His instincts inside the box are sound and he has always been a very good finisher.

“So I am not surprised at all he is doing so well. Because he has done it before.”

When you consider that Pukki’s success was already speaking for itself and making the Hoops look like they had made a blunder, Paatelainen’s remarks will only make them feel 10x worse.
