OPINION
Ruben Vinagre’s quite unlucky in a lot of respects. The young full-back is clearly a very special talent with lots of potential, and if it wasn’t for the fact that Jonny Castro was such an accomplished senior option at left-back there’s no reason to believe that he wouldn’t be playing week in week out for Wolves. He did get the nod on Saturday against Cardiff City, however, and more than made good on his chance. Vinagre was tireless in his work and provided a rapidly pacy option in wide areas, bombing up and down the touchline all afternoon. Wanderers love to play with wing-backs, and on the basis of what he showed in the comfortable win, Vinagre could be a fine option in that system for years to come. The 19-year-old clearly has a big future ahead of him and if he is nurtured in the right way, with patience but also with the trust to give him chances when they are justified, then there is no reason to believe that he can’t go to the very, very top. Wanderers fans will be hoping that he realises that abundant potential under the watchful eye of Nuno Espirito Santo.
