Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has slaughtered the finishing ability of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore after watching the winger pass up a host of opportunities against Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Molineux side saw off the Bluebirds comfortably in front of their home fans with Traore named among the starting XI after being among the substitutes against Huddersfield in midweek.

However, despite terrorising the visitors with his pace and positioning, Le Tissier was hugely unimpressed with what he saw from the summer arrival in front of goal.

Providing the punditry on Saturday afternoon, he told Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday (02/03, 16:17): “Adama Traore is playing as a wing back, he’s put it right up front now and twice he’s got into good positions but his finishing is absolutely awful.

“He gets into some great positions but his left foot shot drags so far wide it was really, really poor.”

Opinion

Traore has not the best of debut seasons for Wolves and while he might have entertained the home crowd against Cardiff Le Tissier is absolutely right to pick out one of his biggest weaknesses. His inability to stick the ball in the back of the net, or even to test the man between the sticks, is really rather concerning and for all his physical power and pace, his actual footballing ability appears to be lacking. Perhaps it is a confidence thing, having struggled to live up to expectations so far, but he has not shown any signs that he has the ability to make a real difference when needed. Thankfully for the speed machine the likes of Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez were at hand to secure all three points. On another day the fans and the rest of his teammates could well have been left ruing Traore’s missed opportunities.
