OPINION
West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice had yet another outstanding outing in his team’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday. The 20-year-old opened the scoring at the London Stadium, of course, although his dance moves left a little to be desired. All joking aside, though, Rice was superb yet again against the Magpies. He bossed the game from start to finish and put the Hammers on their path to victory with a thumping first half header. Predominately a defensive midfielder, the youngster is now adding more strings to his bow and looks more dangerous than he did going forward earlier on this season. There was much debate in the build up to this game about who was the better young English midfielder, Sean Longstaff or Rice. As you can see there are plenty of West Ham supporters ready to close the case on that debate. Rice certainly influenced proceedings far more, but as football fans we should simply enjoy both players while they’re here rather than constantly comparing the two.
