Tottenham must land Chilwell in the summer

Consensus seems to be that Tottenham will spend some money in the summer, after Daniel Levy kept his hands wedged in his pockets for the past two windows.

The new Tottenham stadium is almost open and it would send out a very bad message if Spurs left Mauricio Pochettino floundering again, with his squad looking like it’s going backwards.

A report in the Daily Mail said that Tottenham were monitoring five players, including Jack Grealish and Wilfried Zaha.

However, one name that wasn’t mentioned is Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell and we think he could be the best player that Levy could bring in this summer.

The 22-year-old left-back is already a full England international and would be a big upgrade on both Danny Rose and Ben Davies.

Davies in particular has had a stinker of a season and Rose is only showing in fits and spurts the form that he was once capable of.

Chilwell is a player that will come on leaps and bounds under Pochettino and would add a new dimension to the Tottenham team.

Levy must make him priority number one and provide the money that Leicester want for him. The bad news? He’s under contract until 2024 and the player, currently on a reported £65k-a-week, will not come cheap.

Sky Sports claims Man City are also after him but they could be scuppered if their transfer ban is upheld. That could open the door to a stunning Tottenham move.
