OPINION
Tottenham came very close to signing Aston Villa attacker jack Grealish in the summer. Complicated by a change of ownership at the midlands club and eventually scuppered because Daniel Levy wouldn’t pay what the club wanted, it was a blow for Mauricio Pochettino – and for the player, who admitted it was tough to settle back into life at Aston Villa.
The talk hasn’t gone away and over the past few days the speculation has started up again. A recent report from the Daily Mail has claimed that Spurs could be set to add up to five players this summer and Grealish is the name that won’t go away. Pochettino is said to be a big fan of the player, with a long-standing interest in him, and most Tottenham fans were disappointed he didn’t arrive in the summer.
There are still question marks over Grealish. He’s never been tested at the highest level but a lot of prominent names are very big fans. Harry Redknapp admitted recent that he “loves’ Grealish and has no doubt he could play at the highest level with Tottenham. And Poch is obviously a big fan too.
The majority of Tottenham fans want it to happen too, although some are worried that his brilliant form in the Championship will ramp his price up out of their reach.
