COMMENTARY
Football is a cruel game and you can be certain that the Tottenham fans and players will have left Liverpool on Sunday afternoon feeling as though they deserved at least a point from their 2-1 defeat. It was a stroke of poor fortune, albeit of the Lilywhites’ own doing, that saw the Reds snatch a last minute winner, but there were numerous chances throughout the game where Spurs could have taken the lead for themselves. One man who has come under heavy criticism from the supporters on Twitter is full back Danny Rose, who not only lost Mo Salah for the header which led to Liverpool’s second but failed to make his mark down the other end of the pitch. Usually such a consistent threat when pushing up in attack, his final ball let him down time and again and you can be sure the likes of Harry Kane were left tearing their hair out at the lack of quality delivery from out wide. Yes, Toby Alderweireld’s own goal might have been the one which resulted in defeat, but there was more which contributed to defeat, and it seems the Spurs supporters have laid some of the blame at Rose’s door.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:
The lack of composure when we've got them at our mercy is alarming #Rose #Sissoko #COYS #thfc

And don’t forget the cross that Rose skied with Kane unmarked, and the Dele shot and Eriksen’s chance. Not excusing Lloris but all these chances come back to bite you. #LIVTOT #COYS

He’s not offside. Comes from miles behind Danny Rose who ignored his marker on many occasions today.
