OPINION
There were eyebrows raised when Davinson Sanchez was omitted from the Tottenham squad for last weekend’s defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor. That fixture appeared ideally suited to the physical qualities of the Colombia defender, but his return to the Spurs starting XI has not brought the resoluteness and reliability that Mauricio Pochettino would have hoped for. Tottenham reverted to a three-man defence against Arsenal as fit-again Jan Vertonghen returned to the team, but it did not reap dividends in the first half. Sanchez was culpable for the only goal of the opening period that was beautifully finished by Aaron Ramsey. Hid did not deal with a regulation long ball, mistiming a header too close to his feet and Ramsey ran onto it, rounding Hugo Lloris, before slotting home. Tottenham fans were raging at the mistake from Sanchez, which is the latest in a number of high-profile mistakes from the 22-year-old, who can be very good but can also be pretty bad, too.
