OPINION
Another defeat and another expensive player linked with Tottenham – this time, it’s Alan Nixon in the Sun claiming that Mauricio Pochettino has made £70million-rated Federico Chiesa his number one target. However, the Fiorentina player is one of Europe’s most wanted and the 21-year-old is on the radars of Juventus, Inter and AC Milan as well as Tottenham. And many Tottenham fans just can’t see Daniel Levy spending £70million on a player, after two transfer windows without spending a penny. However, Tottenham’s season is slipping – they’re now just one point ahead of Arsenal in fourth, a gap that was 10 points just over two weeks ago. And there are plenty of Tottenham fans who would love to see Chiesa at the New White Hart Lane stadium next season. Add to this, that Nixon is a reliable source of transfer stories and there could be something in this. You can understand the scepticism – the thought of Levy going up against Europe’s elite with a blank chequebook is stretching things but there’s no doubt he’d a be a great addition and a real Pochettino-type player. Chiesa has five goals and seven assists in 27 Serie A games this season and is under contract until 2022. That means he won’t come cheap… If he comes to north London at all.
Here are the best reactions from Tottenham fans:
The face in that picture is Levy and the idea of spending 70m on a player.

No we’re not! Where do these ridiculous rumours start? We all know that our club cannot/will not spend that kind of money on a player!!

No chance, you know why… cos he is £70m. Come back to reality and link us with our usual £20-30m priced players or anyone outcast at @PSG_English
