Harry Redknapp has made a significant Spurs claim, saying the club will win a trophy in the next couple of years. He also said that with the new stadium set to open next month and with Pochettino in charge, the “future looks good”.

Redknapp singled out Dele Alli for praise, saying he’s an “absolute genius” and that his return to the side is a massive boost to Mauricio Pochettino.

Talking on Sky Sports, Redknapp said “There is a trophy in Tottenham in the next couple of years.

“I enjoy watching them play, they’ve got some great players,” Redknapp said. “Harry [Kane] is back fit and Dele Alli coming back is a big plus – he’s an absolute genius.

“I love Pochettino. New stadium, great training ground, it’s all in place at Tottenham. The future looks good.”

Redknapp also said that Tottenham shouldn’t be written off in their Champions League double-header next month.

OPINION

Everyone loves the way Tottenham play under Pochettino, but we’ve noticed some naysayers popping up this season. They say that Pochettino can’t be considered a success unless he wins a trophy and this looks like being another season without silverware. They’ve still got an outside chance of winning the Champions League and that surely should be considered a success for a club that Arsenal fans used to love ripping to shreds for failing in the Europa League. The hat has been switched now and Redknapp is right – Tottenham shouldn’t be written off in the blockbuster quarter-final. Dortmund might have taken Spurs too lightly in the Round of 16 and that didn’t work out too well for them. A trophy, any trophy, would make a huge difference at Spurs though and summer investment would help massively. We can’t believe that Daniel Levy will let three windows pass without a signing and, if they bring the right players in, a trophy will surely follow.
