Lamela should be worried

Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela must be afraid of his club reportedly being in pursuit of Brentford winger Said Benrahma as it could end up triggering his exit.

TEAMTalk reported on Sunday that Spurs had been keeping close tabs on the Bees attacker with the Championship club slapping a £30million price tag on his head.

Given that £30million is a realistic amount that Spurs could potentially pay then they could very likely go on to win their race for Benrahma especially as they will be confident that the 23-year-old could improve even further and be worth way more in the near future.

The 23-year-old, who can play on either flank as well as a secondary striker, is a tremendous talent and has proven in the Championship this season that he has fantastic creative vision.

Benrahma is currently the assist king of the Championship having created 12 goals in 32 appearances and if that wasn’t enough he has also scored nine goals in his outings.

The winger is a fantastic dribbler of the ball, is always willing to take a player on and as if an added bonus, is also a threat from corners as well as free-kicks.

So when you consider that Benrahma is excelling, he could improve and seems to deliver what Lamela is supposed to for Tottenham, then the 27-year-old clearly must feel like the club are checking out a potential replacement for him.

This is particularly the case when you consider that Lamela hasn’t overly wowed this season as in a lot of his 31 appearances he has struggled and looks to be regressing instead of improving.

Mauricio Pochettino won’t want to allow players to leave without new ones coming through the door but given that Benrahma is a player they’re looking at, surely his potential arrival may end up triggering Lamela’s exit from the club.
