Stan Collymore has said that the new Tottenham stadium is good for all football fans and thinks everyone should stop complaining about the ‘integrity of the Premier League being compromised’.

In his column in the Mirror, Collymore said that while ‘Harry Kane might up his performance by 10 per cent in every game Spurs play there for the rest of the season’, visiting players would feel the same way.

‘So let’s stop worrying about the impact it will have on the players and results,” Collymore added, “and let’s start thinking more about the people who will really benefit from the experience. Namely the supporters, home and away, who will get to enjoy the facilities at one of the best sports stadiums, if not THE best sports stadium, on the planet.”

He went on to say that he had some friends who went to the first test event on Sunday – the Tottenham Under-18s game – and that they left ‘raving’ about the new ground.

“I had a couple of mates who went to the first test event on Sunday and they were raving about the way their beer glasses were filled, about concourses you can drive a juggernaut down and the magnificent, sweeping new stand.”

OPINION

To be fair, we haven’t heard too much about people moaning about the integrity of the Premier League. We certainly didn’t hear them when Tottenham were struggling at Wembley. What we do know is that the new Tottenham stadium looks absolutely magnificent and that it seems to really put the fans first, right down to the Beavertown micro brewery. For too long, football supporters in this country have had to put up with second-glass catering and second-class facilities, and Tottenham fans are going to be the envy of the Premier League next season. We can’t imagine any away fans who won’t be looking forward to going – even Arsenal fans, although you wouldn’t catch them admitting it. The UK needs more new stadiums like this and we imagine that plenty more people will be raving about it after the Tottenham Legends game this weekend – the final test event before the grand opening against Crystal Palace next Wednesday.
