Everton fan and former professional boxer Tony Bellew was left fuming after Everton lost 3-2 to Newcastle United on Saturday.

The 36-year-old posted a series of tweets about the Toffees’ lost to the Magpies before a Newcastle fans asked him about Jordan Pickford.

The Magpies supporter asked Bellew where his previous “England’s Number 1” tweet praising the Toffees shot-stopper had gone and the retired boxer angrily claimed it was going the same place his phone was at this rate.

Bellew then claimed that he needed to set his phone on fire due to his frustration at the Toffees’ latest loss.

“Same place this phone is going at this rate!!!!!” tweeted Bellew via his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Hopefully Pickford doesn’t bump into Bellew anytime soon as the retired boxer won’t be giving him a hug upon seeing him. The Toffees were 2-0 up against the Magpies yet managed to drop the ball and end up losing the game 3-2. For this reason it’s no surprise Bellew was fuming at his team and it’s not a shock either that he wasn’t ready to praise Pickford anytime soon. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was arguably at fault for at least one of the Magpies’ goals and was lucky to be on the pitch. Pickford gave away a penalty in the first-half of the match after appearing to bring down Salomon Rondon with no intention of going after the ball, and yet didn’t receive his marching orders. The goalkeeper did save the resulting penalty but given that it was completely a needless spot-kick to give away, you can’y exactly praise him for not conceding in that moment. The only positive Pickford can take from Bellew’s tweet is that he kept brief by using nine-words as you feel he could have gone on a long rant.
