OPINION
It’s hard to pick faults with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side, but there are times when you watch them and remember that they are only human. In the first half against Swansea City they had their moments, however, with the most prominent being the penalty that led to the Swans taking a shock lead. Fabian Delph may have been at fault for that, but it was Riyad Mahrez who took the brunt of the Cityzens indignation prior to the interval. The Algerian looked fairly uninventive in his creative work, and repeatedly relied on one foot instead testing his full-back by going inside and outside of him. There were a couple of fairly obvious missed chances from the winger, but it’s more than manner in which he conducts himself, lackadaisical and lethargic, that really grinds the gears. When he is on song he is irresistible, but when he is even slightly off his game, like he was on Saturday evening, he can be such a frustrating figure to watch. Against a side like Swansea, a player of his calibre should be running riot, but instead he was kept relatively quiet. Pep will no doubt be reminding him that it was simply not good enough.

Defo twigged with Mahrez. Much quicker with passes, less unnecessary showboating etc…

I know Mahrez is capable of scoring some really good goals. But every time he gets the ball he just gives me the feeling he's either going to lose it or unleash some wild, poor shot.
