COMMENTARY
Many Manchester City fans were blown away by Oleksandr Zinchenko after he wowed in their side’s 7-0 victory over Schalke. The 22-year-old was originally a left winger when he joined Man City but under Pep Guardiola’s guidance he has made the position of left-back his own. Zinchenko regularly featured as a left-back last season and at times looked at bit iffy, however when playing there this season, he looks right at home. Many Man City fans highlighted how impressive he now was at left-back against Schalke with one going a little overboard by claiming he was best in the world in that position. While the 22-year-old isn’t the best yet, there’s no saying that he can’t be one day. Zinchenko has come on leaps and bounds since last season and if he continues progressing in the same way, then the sky’s the limit for him. The only issue in terms of the player progressing, is whether he sees himself as a left-back in the long-term. The 22-year-old clearly loves the attacking side of the game and bursting forward, so you wonder if he will push to be played somewhere else.
