Gary Lineker heaped praise on Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

The Match of the Day host dubbed a save made by the shot-stopper as sensational during Mauricio Pochettino side’s latest victory in a point where he thought they were clinging on against Dortmund.

“Sensational save from Lloris. Spurs clinging on here,” tweeted Lineker on his official Twitter account.

The 32-year-old has featured 31 times for Spurs this season, conceding 31 goals and keeping 12 clean sheets.

OPINION

Lloris deserves praise for his performance against Dortmund as if he wasn’t at the races, it could have been a different story. The goalkeeper made several top class saves during the first-half of Spurs’ Champions League clash in order to ensure Dortmund didn’t get a goal. You feel if the Bundesliga side had got a goal then Spurs may have crumbled or Dortmund would have gained enough confidence to belief they could turn the fixture in their favour. However due to Lloris being at his best, that situation didn’t emerge. The veteran shot-stopper went through a blip in form earlier in the season but his recent displays have left no one without any doubt that he is a top-class keeper. Lloris had dealt with the boo boys heaping pressure on him and it’s a testament to his character that he has come out the other side better for it. While Harry Kane is likely to steal the headlines as he scored the winning goal on Tuesday, Lloris’ importance to the victory shouldn’t be undervalued.
