COMMENTARY
Many Everton fans were blown away by the performance of midfielder Idrissa Gueye against Chelsea with one supporter going as far as to dub his display perfect. The Toffees surprisingly defeated the Blues 2-0 on Sunday and it’s fair to say there were several players worthy of being dubbed Man of the Match for Marco Silva’s side. Yet it’s easy to see why a large number of fans backed Gueye for the personal accolade. The 29-year-old, particularly in the second half, seemed to be everywhere. He didn’t let any Chelsea player have a moments peace when on the ball and hassled them until they gave up possession. If that wasn’t enough, Gueye’s passing bordered on being flawless as he regularly found his teammate and was never careless with the ball at his feet. While the 29-year-old did seem to want an exit from Goodison Park in January, even if that is still the case, the midfielder isn’t letting his desire to move on effect his performances in a negative way.
