Paul Merson has predicted that Liverpool will just have too much for Tottenham when they meet at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Merson thinks that Klopp’s men will secure the vital three points and end the weekend as they started – at the top of the Premier League.

Writing in his column on Sky Sports, Merson predicted a tight game – 2-1 to Liverpool.

“The pressure is going to be on Liverpool, draws are no good with Manchester City in front,” Merson said.

“It’s going to be a tight, entertaining game with Liverpool needing to win adding another layer – if Liverpool are drawing with 20 minutes to go they have to go for it.

“But I think they will get the job done, cranking up the pressure on Spurs in the race for the top four.”

OPINION

All eyes might be on the top of the table, with Liverpool probably needing to win to stay on top after Man City face Fulham on Saturday. But this game has other ramifications, with Tottenham in danger of slipping up in the race for a Champions League spot. That had looked absolutely nailed on a couple of months ago, but since then both Man United and Arsenal have hit a run of form and results. if both of these teams win again at the weekend it would see Arsenal leapfrog Spurs into third and would leave Tottenham hanging onto fourth spot by goal difference. We can’t see Liverpool slipping up. There’s too much at stake and Tottenham are a good side for Liverpool to play. Pochettino loves to attack and Liverpool have got the firepower to punish them in front of a rabid home crowd. Sadio Mane is the man to watch but you can never rule Mohammed Salah out, even though the Egyptian hasn’t been in the best of form recently.
