Pablo Hernandez caused Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews to lose his mind after a sensational display in Leeds United’s 4-0 win against West Brom at Elland Road on Friday night.

Within 17 seconds of kick-off, Hernandez put Leeds ahead with a superb goal from outside the penalty area and the Spanish playmaker continued to dominate the game as the Whites went top of the Championship table in convincing manner.

Ex-Baggies midfielder Andrews was completely in awe of Hernandez during the win against his former club, claiming that he is the most creative player in the Championship.

“We challenged him and he produced,” said Andrews on Sky Sports Football on Friday night [09:59pm]. “It was outrageous as well [his goal], it really was.

“He was back to his razor sharp best, plays with his head up. He had [Luke] Ayling going on the overlap time and time again, picking pockets between the midfield and West Brom, spraying passes all over the place.

“He’s just a dangerous player that is as creative as there is in the division.”

OPINION

Andrews has not been the most popular pundit among Leeds fans this season, but there’s no arguing with him here. Hernandez was sensational against West Brom and was one of five or six players who could have been awarded man of the match. The former Valencia playmaker had Tosin Adarabioyo’s number from the very first few seconds as Albion’s makeshift left-back struggled to lay a finger on the Leeds ace. It was the best we’ve seen from Hernandez in several weeks, but he has been putting in shifts like that throughout the entirety of his two years at Elland Road. Hernandez is a real frontrunner for the player of the season award this term, and he could be favourite for it if Leeds eventually go on to seal promotion. Based on that performance against a team that beat them 4-1 in November, you have to say that Leeds deserve to go up as part of the top two.
