OPINION
Bernard was brilliant for Everton – up until half-time. It was hardly the Brazilian’s fault that the Toffees blew a two goal lead against Newcastle United to lose 3-2 at St James’ Park, but it seemed like complacency crept into Marco Silva’s men at half-time, and that led to their demise. Bernard was great in the first-half though, and many Everton fans were right to praise him for that. However he, like everyone else, went missing after the break and the Toffees failed to pick up what should have been three super points on the road. Huge questions are going to be asked of Silva after this game. The Portuguese boss has overseen next to no improvement since taking charge at Goodison Park and summer signings, like Bernard, have not delivered the goods on a regular enough basis. Everton’s defeat at Newcastle summed up their season perfectly, as did the Brazilian’s overall performance.

MOTM so far – Bernard, easily.
Pickford really hates the Toon, and vice versa.
Lee Mason has lost control of this game.
Everton's quick movement getting under Newcastle's skin.
