Richard Keys jokingly told Sam Allardyce that he should check his phone after West Bromwich Albion sacked Darren Moore.

The Baggies revealed via a official statement on their website that they had parted company with their manager after the team drew 1-1 with Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Keys read the news allowed on beIN SPORTS and joked that the ex-Premier League manager should check his phone and Allardyce just laughed at the remark.

“News from the Hawthorns tonight, Darren Moore sacked as the manager of West Bromwich Albion, check your phone Sam,” joked Keys on beIN SPORTS, as seen in a clip on their Twitter account.

OPINION

West Brom sprung a surprise on Saturday by sacking Moore but they will shock even more people if they announced they had appointed Allardyce. While Keys was only joking about the experienced manager taking the reigns, he is sure to be a name banded about in the hunt for Moore’s replacement given that he is currently unattached. Allardyce previously played for West Brom, which adds fuel to the fire, and will no doubt see the potential in the club. Moore was sacked with the Baggies sat fourth in the Championship with them nine points off the automatic promotion places. The Baggies squad is packed with talented players and it’s easy to see they have enough to win the play-offs if it comes down to it. However you still feel it will be a shock if Allardyce accepts a job in the Championship as it would look like a step down for him, and you’d be surprised if the Baggies appointed him as it might not be popular among fans. West Brom fans were very vocal over their displeasure of the way Tony Pulis managed the team due to his playing style, and it’s fair to say Allardyce doesn’t have a reputation for promoting attractive football.
