Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay has said that Samu Saiz could play for Leeds again this season if Getafe were to cancel his loan, but that there was “no chance” that Marcelo Bielsa would want him back.

He also stated that that there was “no chance” that Saiz would want to come back to Elland Road.

Hay was responding to a question from a Leeds fan who asked the journalist to confirm “if Getafe were to cancel Saiz’s loan before the end of the season, Samu is still ineligible to play for Leeds this season?”

Hay replied “I don’t believe so” before making the claim about the Leeds manager.

OPINION

Well, that wraps that nonsense up. There’s been lots of speculation online about Saiz returning to Leeds, fuelled by his unsuccessful loan stint (just two starts in six appearances and dropped for the last three games) and a story from a person purporting to be a journalist who said there was a recall clause that Leeds could trigger. Leeds have 11 games left in the season and, even if Saiz wanted to come back, there is absolutely no way that Bielsa would want the player back to disrupt the run-in. We can’t imagine any manager wanting a player back who left in those circumstances but Bielsa? 100% no. Most Leeds fans don’t want him back either. He left under a bit of a cloud before Christmas and many fans think he left the club in the lurch. Were Leeds a better team with him? When he was at his best, for sure, but that was few and far between this season.
