Leeds must enter race for Adams

Leeds have dazzled at times this season, with some breathtaking pressing play that wouldn’t look out of place in the Premier League.

The 4-0 win against West Brom was a textbook display of what it looks like when everything clicks for Marcelo Bielsa.

However, all too often his side has struggled to convert its dominance into goals – most notably in the 1-0 defeat to QPR that really put more of a dent in their promotion hopes than the Sheffield United defeat on Saturday.

They need a guaranteed goal-scorer and this season has proven that they can’t just rely on Kemar Roofe. He’s got an impressive 14 in 26 league games but he’s missed 12 games through two injuries and Patrick Bamford isn’t good enough to lead the line in the Premier League.

Step forward Che Adams. He’s scored 21 in 37 games for Birmingham, a club who aren’t creating as many chances as Leeds, and a club that is being threatened with a 12-point deduction for breaking FPP rules. That could see them in a relegation dogfight and Adams will surely want out.

He’s being sized up by a number of Premier League clubs already – Wolves, Newcastle and Tottenham have all been credited with an interest in the red-hot striker.

The TeamTalk report claims that Birmingham will let him leave at the end of the season and that they want £20million for him.

That’s a bargain for a 22-year-old who’s got the world at his feet and enough talent to take the Premier League by storm.

Victor Orta should elbow himself to the front of the queue and buy the goals that Leeds will need next season. Jack Clarke on the wing and Che Adams through the middle? Yes please.
