COMMENTARY
While many Leeds United fans will be celebrating a tremendous performance against Reading on Tuesday night, there will no doubt be a handful questioning just how far ahead of the rest of the Championship they would be had Patrick Bamford remained fit all season. The 25-year-old striker was absolutely outstanding against the Royals – as the fans’ reactions on Twitter show – demonstrating that he is so much more than a poacher up front. The manner in which his movement dragged the defence around to provide pockets of space, his dummy for Mateusz Klich’s opener a prime example, was brilliant while he was just as effective with the ball. He knew exactly where his teammates would be and got the ball to them time and again, showing off his expert technical ability while also highlighting just how strong he is. He might not by the typical target man, but he led the line as well as anyone else in the Championship could have at the Madjeski Stadium.
