Pontus Jansson could be in line to retain his place in the heart of the Leeds defence against Millwall on Saturday, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The centre-back was injured late on in the game against Sheffield United but had to play on – first as a makeshift defender and then in goal – after manager Marcelo Bielsa had made all three changes.

The initial prognosis was that he would be out for three weeks but the YEP reports that he is making a quick recovery and could be in line to play on Saturday.

Adam Forshaw is also on the brink of a return to the first-team squad and could be involved for the first time since the Norwich game on February 2nd.

OPINION

Leeds fans were expecting the worst when they saw Jansson hobbling through the final stage of the game against Sheffield United. He was obviously in distress and there was real concern that he could be making the injury much worse by playing on. Jansson pulled out of the Sweden squad and it looks like the international break has come at just the right time for Leeds. Having him back for the game against Millwall would be brilliant, although they do have Gaetano Berardi available if the centre-back is ruled out of the game. The return of Adam Forshaw is big too after an injury that proved to be a lot worse than Leeds were expecting. He was said to be in contention for the next game after the Norwich clash but went on to win the next eight games. This is a player that was thought of so highly by Bielsa that he played him at defensive midfield against Norwich, dropping Kalvin Phillips for the first time in the season.
