The excitement is building ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster clash at Elland Road between Leeds and Sheffield United.

Former Leeds player Tony Dorigo is riding the hype train as well and sent a late-night Twitter message to Leeds fans.

He said, “Can you guess the last time we did the double over Sheffield United? Yep, 91/92 – that finished well.”

He wished the current crop of players the same success and said he’d see fans at Elland Road before signing off “…can’t sleep either.”

Dorigo sent his message at 10.13pm, just 14 hours away from kick-off.

OPINION

The talking is almost done and the time for the players to do the rest is fast approaching. Leeds fans will be sleeping fitfully tonight ahead of one of the biggest games of their lives. Pontus Jansson has called for fans to get to Elland Road early and it’s going to be some atmosphere. We just hope the build-up doesn’t affect the Leeds players adversely and that they can come out of the blocks firing like they did against West Brom. We’re expecting an open, attacking game, with both teams looking for the win, and we think that will play out in Leeds’ favour in front of a sell-out crowd. It’s going to be close though – we’re predicting a 2-1 win for Leeds that will see them move one big step closer to the Premier League. A win will send Leeds five points clear of Sheffield United and back to the top of the Championship, with Norwich set to play Rotherham in a 3pm kick-off.
