COMMENTARY
The moment has finally come that all Aston Villa fans were waiting for – the return of Jack Grealish. As revealed on the club’s official Twitter account the Villa born and bred star was back in the starting XI against Derby County and as if that was not enough to get the supporters hyped, manager Dean Smith also handed him the captain’s armband. Considering that he was not even in the first team squad last weekend in the draw against Stoke City it is a bold move from the manager but one that has the Villa faithful over the moon on Twitter and understandably so. The Villans have looked out of sorts without the midfield maestro linking up those in the middle of the park to the forward line and Tammy Abraham has definitely suffered as a result of his teammate’s absence. There will be great expectations on his shoulders to hit top form straight away and while he might thrive under that sort of pressure – that is the character Grealish is – there should still be a little bit of forgiveness if he cannot perform to the top of his ability against the Rams.
