OPINION
On a day when West Brom secured a memorable 2-0 win at the home of local rivals Aston Villa, there were still a few things for fans to complain about. First-half goals from Hal Robson-Kanu and Jay Rodriguez were followed by a solid second-half display of resolute defending in which the home side never really looked like threatening a comeback. Immense credit must go to Darren Moore’s side, who further emphasised their automatic promotion credentials in the absence of suspended forward Dwight Gayle. There were plenty of impressive performances, with the back four immense, Sam Field playing with maturity in midfield, Rekeem Harper excellent, Sam Johnstone pulling off two crucial saves and Rodriguez running the home side ragged with his running and movement. However, fans were less than delighted with the performance of January signing Jacob Murphy. The on-loan Newcastle United winger got in good positions on his fourth appearance for the Baggies but his finishing was below par. Plenty of supporters were comparing him unfavourably to January departee Ashley Barnes.
