OPINION
Derby striker David Nugent is a bit of a scapegoat for the fans, and that is no different during the first half against Brighton, where they trail 2-0. To be honest though, these fans are right to slam Nugent for his first half display. He was dire and pretty much non existent for the first 45 minutes and it remains to be seen why Frank Lampard chose him in the first place. One fan compared him to the people that he plays football with on a Sunday, and that must really be a kick in the teeth to be compared to that level. Overall, though, the whole team has not been great in this first half – it was just Nugent who was the worst out of a bad bunch. However, with him on the field, Derby are not going to get anywhere, which was reinforced by the fact that someone branded him as “irrelevant”.
