West Ham are in the hunt to sign Ajax centre-forward Kasper Dolberg, according to Calcio Meracto.

The Italian news outlet claims that Southampton are also interested in signing the 21-year-old Denmark international, who has scored 10 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for Ajax this season.

Goal reported in November that Dolberg is not planning to leave the Amsterdam giants any time soon, but his value could rise above £31million in the near future.

Good move for West Ham?

Dolberg would be a ridiculously good signing for West Ham if they are able to lure the Danish youngster to the London Stadium in the summer.

The Eredivisie goal machine is widely seen as one of the best young strikers in European football and if the Hammers signed him, they would surely have themselves someone who can spearhead their attack for the next decade and beyond.

And if Dolberg does hit the ground running in East London then his value would continue to soar and could end up being a good investment for the Irons.

He has good pedigree and is scoring a lot of goals in whenever he does start games.

At the moment, Dolberg is not quite as prolific off the bench, but if West Ham need a starting striker for next season, the Dane would be a very solid bet for them.

Likely to happen?

It is very unlikely that just West Ham and Southampton are interested in Dolberg.

As soon as players graduate from the Ajax academy and start playing regular first team football, you can bet that there are eyes on them from across Europe.

If the Irons are able to sign the Denmark international then it would be a major coup for them.

Fans should not get their hopes up at this stage, especially with the summer transfer window so far away.
