OPINION

Is there a game that goes by without a section of West Brom fans ripping into Hal Robson-Kanu for his performance. The Welsh forward was slammed by some fans on Twitter for his display in the 3-1 extra-time defeat to Brighton at The Hawthorns on Wednesday night, but he was probably one of the better players on the pitch for the Baggies, which proves that some people are too quick to jump on the scapegoat. Robson-Kanu had to start the game. Darren Moore wasn’t going to risk both Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle while there were injuries to Jonathan Leko and Kyle Edwards, plus neither Jefferson Montero or Jacob Murphy were eligible to play. Robson-Kanu isn’t an amazing player, but he has a job to do and he does it well. There’s no other forward in the West Brom squad that can hold the ball up the way he does. When Salomon Rondon joined Newcastle in the summer, Albion lost that physicality up front. Robson-Kanu does the less glamorous job and it’s not often the one that makes fans happy.
