Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham was the only Ibrox ace to be named in Chris Sutton and Darrell Currie’s team of the week as Celtic dominate.

The Hoops saw off Kilmarnock with a last minute winner, Scott Brown scoring the all important goal in the 1-0 victory before being sent off, while Steven Gerrard and his men had to settle for their second successive 0-0 draw of the week, this time away at St Johnstone.

Bemoaning the difficult decision, Curry and Sutton chose Brown, Johnny Hayes and Dedryck Boyata from the Bhoys – the most players from one team this week – with Foderingham the only representative of the Gers in their chosen XI.

Taking to his personal Twitter account to reveal the line up, Currie said: “Here’s our team of the week! ?@chris_sutton73? . Selection dilemmas all over the shop. What you reckon?”

Opinion

Some interesting selections from Sutton and Currie, although it would be difficult to argue that any other Rangers players are worthy of a spot in there this week. The Gers looked completely off the pace and quite frankly Foderingham’s inclusion is only because he managed to keep a clean sheet – no thanks to his defenders. As for the Celtic trio, Brown’s inclusion will no doubt have a couple scratching their heads after he saw red – a dismissal which many have deemed unfortunate for the Hoops captain. Boyata is a quality defender and would likely make the best XI of the entire Premiership, let alone best of the week. As for Hayes, he has really grown into his makeshift left back role in the absence of Kieran Tierney and Emilio Izaguirre, Brendan Rodgers once again showing a talent for moulding players into new positions when absolutely necessary. These were by no means vintage showings from the Old Firm pair but the fact Celtic won and Rangers did not shows the pedigree of a title winning side – grinding out results even when they do not play their best.
