COMMENTARY
Rangers fans were no doubt excited about the prospect of Steven Davis returning to Ibrox from Southampton in January but the second coming of the Northern Irish ace is quickly turning from a dream into a nightmare. The veteran was savaged by the Ibrox faithful on Twitter for his performance against St Johnstone as he found himself partnered up alongside Ross McCrorie and Glen Kamara in the middle of the pitch. He was quite easily the worst of the trio and offered very little to Steven Gerrard’s side, especially when compared to the missing Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield. The Canadian international definitely has more creativity in his locker, making him a vital component of the Gers’ side, while Jack just looks a better all-round midfielder than his Northern Irish teammate. Maybe it is his lack of playing time at Southampton or maybe he really has dropped off the edge in terms of performance. Either way, this is some way off the expected standard at Rangers and he needs to improve immediately if he is to forge a future at Ibrox.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:
kamara’s has a really good first half. we’re a man down playing davis (again)

Best player has been kamara. I knew Davis wasn't upto much match sharpness wise but he looks like he's forgot how to play football.

Wanted Davis to be as good as he was but it just isn't so. Personally I'd have him off at half time. Defoe isn't getting the service he needs. Kamara looked decent.

Gerrard baffles me! We are playing St Johnstone at home with a holding MF. Davis is a passenger. Impressed with Kamara. Again why are we playing Defoe upfront on his own. We look clueless.
