OPINION
Kilmarnock striker Eamonn Brophy added to the controversy over Scottish referees when he posted a tweet claiming he should have had a penalty in the game against Rangers last night. Rangers won 5-0 after Daniel Bachmann was sent off for the visitors in the 25th minute. And Killie fans had another reason to feel aggrieved when Brophy was denied a penalty after a challenge from Joe Worrall before Alfredo Morelos tapped in the equaliser. Brophy posted a tweet that showed a video of the challenge, saying “Apparently fall over my own feet here…?” In the clip you can see Worrall wraps his arms round the player, but is there enough contact to go down? For us, Brophy seems to go to ground a bit easily, but we’ve definitely seem them given. Would it have been given by VAR? To be honest, we’re not entirely sure and it shows that the system would still not be foolproof – a referee would have to still make a judgement based on the incident. In the meantime, here is the video so you can make your own mind up and the best reactions from Rangers fans, including one who shows that the tweet was liked by Worrall.

Didn’t think a player would put up a video of his own dive? Fair play though, mate. Refreshing to see.
