Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is expected to ring the changes to his side for their trip to take on Hamilton on Sunday.

The Gers saw off Kilmarnock in a comfortable 5-0 win in midweek to progress to the next stage of the Scottish Cup and return to league action looking to try and close the gap to leaders Celtic after falling further away last weekend.

However, Gerrard will have to make do without four goal hero Alfredo Morelos as he serves the final game of his three match ban – the replay not counting towards his punishment – and so Jermain Defoe is likely to lead the line instead.

The Bournemouth loanee is expected to be joined by fellow veteran Allan McGregor, his two game suspension over, Andy Halliday and 20-year-old Ross McCrorie in returning to the side, with Wes Foderingham, Glen Kamara and Borna Barisic facing the axe from the starting XI.

Foderingham might have kept two consecutive clean sheets but McGregor is firmly the number one between the sticks and should return at the first opportunity, with Halliday the only other change in what seems to be a well settled back line.

The midfield has been chopped and changed throughout the season and the rotation is not likely stop against Hamilton, McCrorie, who was rested against Killie in the cup, expected to be given the chance to return as the central enforcer alongside Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack.

Up front Defoe is likely to be the chosen replacement for Morelos and as usual Ryan Kent and Daniel Candeias should support him from out wide.
