Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor will discover the fate of his immediate future in the side on Tuesday as he faces a possible two game ban for his actions against Aberdeen, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper, via their live blog (11/02, 10:10), claim that the experienced shot stopper will face a fast track hearing with the officiating body and that D-Day over a decision will be Tuesday.

McGregor missed out on punishment for a dangerous looking tackle on Aberdeen’s Lewis Ferguson in the Gers’ 4-2 win but was cited for retrospective action and offered a two game ban.

Opinion

How many times have Rangers found themselves in front of a hearing with officials this season? Usually it is Alfredo Morelos playing the leading role but this time it is McGregor, who also faced a review earlier this season. Steven Gerrard will be absolutely desperate to keep his shot stopper from picking up any sort of ban, for he has been an absolute rock between the sticks. He was crucial in helping the Light Blues pick up victory at Pittodrie, pulling off some brilliant saves, and so to see him sent to the sidelines for the next two games would do the club’s cause of picking up another win no good whatsoever. Whether there is any real argument over his tackle on Morgan is for the panel to decide but unfortunately for Gerrard it looked a nasty one both live and on the replays. The nails have not all been hammered in, but it would be an unlikely escape to see him dig his way out of this one.
