Many Rangers fans were no doubt ecstatic to learn that midfielder Steven Davis was joining the club for a second time in January.

His experience with the Gers as well as spells with Southampton and Fulham would have put him in pretty goos stead ahead of his arrival at Ibrox, but that could not be more different.

He has made five appearances in all competitions for Rangers since he signed, and in all those outings, he has been pretty dire and has not impressed in the slightest.

His latest shocker came in the 0-0 draw with St Johnstone on Saturday, a game where the 34-year-old offered very little and made zero impact on the game.

However, this has been the case a few times now, and some Rangers fans will surely start to wonder why boss Steven Gerrard brought the veteran midfielder to the club in the first place.

It could be argued that they did not really need another player in the middle of the park, especially with Ryan Jack and Ross McCrorie churning out excellent displays on a regular basis.

Davis’ poor form is no doubt causing frustration amongst the Gers faithful, as he has turned out to be a huge disappointment since he joined.

He clearly has not been able to make his mark yet, and by the looks of things, that is not going to happen any time soon.

It remains to be seen why Davis has not been able to bring his experience to the table at Rangers – it could be because of his lack of game time at Southampton.

Either way, the 5ft 8in [Transfermarkt] player needs to improve as soon as possible if he is to make his time on Ibrox a success, because at the moment, it is looking the complete opposite.
