Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has failed to excel at the club since joining them on loan from Southampton in January.

The 34-year-old has featured six times for the Gers this season and many Rangers supporters have made their feelings about the midfielder clear on social media in recent weeks.

After witnessing Davis struggled against St Johnstone in February, several highlighted the fact on Twitter that the midfielder was once again way off the pace and miles below the level they thought he would be at upon joining.

Rangers fans were justified to think that the experienced midfielder wasn’t up to scratch as during his performances so far; he has looked far too slow on the ball and sloppy in possession.

Yet while many were probably ready to claim Davis’ return to the club, after his previous successful spell, has been a completely waste of time, he was a changed man against Hamilton.

The Gers cruised to a 5-0 victory over Hamilton on Sunday and Davis actually showed signs that he was starting to becoming the player fans thought he would be when he arrived in January.

Davis was brought on the 62nd minute of the match and looked way sharper than he had in his previous outings.

The veteran was moving the ball quickly, alert to everything around him and didn’t look like he was ready to give up on his second spell at Ibrox.

While Davis still has some work to do to make himself worthy of a starting place in Steven Gerrard’s side, after the promising signs he showed on Sunday there’s hope that there’s life in the old dog yet.
